What’s happenin’??? Moore is, that’s what!

Here are our staff’s picks for some awesome Moore County events for this week!

Tuesday

  • Today is Veterans Day, which brings a lot of emotions — both good and bad — to those who have served. We’re proud to have military veterans and their families all throughout our ranks here at Greenhem, from our ownership to representatives in every department. Check out the linked list from Military.com for Veterans Day deals.
  • Going on from 2-5 is a Veterans Day market hosted by Red’s Corner in SoPi, which boasts veteran-affiliated vendors and three veteran-owned food trucks: Cookies-n-Moore, Toy’s Tastee Thai, and Blue Suede BBQ. Don’t miss this shindig! (And be sure to tell Blue Suede we sent ya)
  • A little Tuesday night live music never hurt anyone, right? Railhouse Brewing is hosting Corey Cromer from 4 to 7, promising “a performance rich with energy and heart.” As an added bonus, trivia hosted by 910Comedy follows the music up.

Wednesday

  • It’s senior night at IHOP in Southern Pines every Wednesday AND kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée Monday-Thursday every week, so grab the kid, grab some dinner, and grab a parent or two, and everyone’s got a full belly and happy smile.
  • Drop-in tech hour at the Southern Pines Public Library happens the second Wednesday of every month, with library staff available to help you from 11 am to 12 pm with your technology needs!
  • With this week’s cold snap, you know what would come in handy? A warm and fuzzy blanket. Luckily, our friends over at Wine & Design are hosting a DIY knitting class that’s also BYOB, so you G2G over there and tell your besties you’ll BRB LOL. (Okay, we’re done, I promise.) It goes from 5:30 to 7:30 and registration is required. Tickets are $95 but well worth the price, we promise!

Thursday

  • Drew Cameron, a veteran, is demonstrating how to make paper from used military uniforms at BHAWK Distillery. A flagpole ceremony starts at 5:30 and the artist talk and demonstration (a sip and see event) follows. Registration is free for this portion, but the workshops this weekend are about $13.
  • The Given Memorial Library hosts a children’s story time every Thursday. Stories, songs, and activities are on the list of things to do. The event runs from 10 to 11 am every week and is geared towards preschoolers.
  • Who doesn’t love an open mic? Swank Coffee Shoppe & Handmade Market hosts one every other Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, and it’s family friendly. An in-house guitar and piano are available, but only 11 slots are open for performances, so act quickly to secure yours.
