What’s happenin’??? Moore is, that’s what!
Here are our staff’s picks for some awesome Moore County events for this week!
Tuesday
- Treat yo’ self! No, literally, it’s Treat Yourself Tuesday at Carolina Cinemas Sandhills 10. It’s only seven bucks for movies from 10 am to 10 pm every Tuesday!
- Hey, Ladies! Come on out and do some socialising at this month’s Small Town Social networking event. If you need a little liquid courage to get you going, you’ll be happy to know it’s at the The Wine Cellar in downtown SoPi. Note that the event itself is free, but it does require signing up beforehand. Wine, beer, and seltzer are available for purchase at the venue.
- On a more serious note, wek now that times are tough for many people in our communities, especially as we move into the holiday seasons. Sandhills Moving and Storage is hosting a ‘Move for Hunger’ food drive for Thanksgiving starting yesterday through the 19th. Food donations should be non-perishable and can be dropped off Monday-Saturday 8 am to 5 pm.
Wednesday
- Mamas, this one’s for you! As part of a rotating Mothership of the Pines Fitness for Moms series hosted by Southern Pines Parks & Rec, the Supermom Circuit is Wednesday night from 5:30 to 6:30. It’s boasted as a “High-energy circuit training to boost endurance, elevate mood, and build community,” and every class in the series is kid-friendly. Costs for the classes vary, dependent on membership and class taken.
- Got a hankerin’ for a new twist on an old classic? STAR Charter School is putting on a performance of Honk Jr., an adaptation of The Ugly Duckling. Tickets are only $15 and it runs from 6 to 8 pm.
- Perhaps the most exciting event of the week (and that’s not throwing shade at anyone else’s event) is tomorrow’s Dinosaurs & I Heart Cookies — because who doesn’t love deep dish cookies and animatronice dinosaurs at Lowe’s? Raptors, two (!!!) T. rexes, and deep dish cookies pair together like… dinosaurs and cookies. Admission is the purchase of just one cookie per person for the event at $5 each or 6/$25.
Thursday
- The theme of the week is health and wellness, apparently. And that’s certainly not a bad thing by any means. To round that out, take a trip on over to the Moore Wellness Expo at the Pinehurst Fair Barn. It goes from 6 pm to 9 pm. Tickets start at $5, and the event offers a variety of vendors, “hearty hors d’oeuvres” and many other things including prizes.
- Pumpkins and Petals just screams fall excitement. It features DIY decoupaged pressed flower pumpkins, according to the flyer. It runs from 6 to 7:30 pm at Sun+ Soul Collective. Tickets are available for purchase ahead of time at $30, but be warned: they are limited.
- And finally, who doesn’t wanna cop a cuppa with a police officer for a good cause?! This event warrants a mention since it benefits Special Olympics North Carolina. Don’t go bacon any promises while you’re there, either. (OK, enough with the cop-related puns.) A partnership between the Aberdeen Police Department and Double Trouble Coffee Co. means 10% of each purchase goes to the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Come on out, enjoy your favorite morning drink, and know you’re helping support the community.
